The UASC offers programs from Learn to Skate through to Basic Skills Program
and for the higher level skater Moves in the Field.
Learn to skate:
The Learn to Skate Basic Skills Program provides instruction to skaters ages 4
and over in the basic skills necessary to ice skate safely, and the initial
skills needed before advancing to figure skating or ice hockey. Check out
the registration information for details of this sessions programs.
basic SKILLS:
The
Basic Skills program is for first graders and up and will help you learn all the
fundamentals of figure skating - it's simply the best way to take to the ice.
The Basic Skills program is designed by U.S. Figure Skating to be the best
beginning ice skating program that is fun, challenging and rewarding.
The objectives of the program are:
- To provide a fun and safe skating experience for the beginner as
well as the more advanced skater
- To teach correct technique of the basic elements of skating
- To develop a finer degree of coordination and balance
- To promote physical fitness
- To have fun!

moves IN THE FIELD:
The
Moves in the Field is a competitive track for skaters to follow. The
standard moves in the field tests are divided into eight classes to be taken in
the following order: Pre-preliminary, preliminary, pre-juvenile, juvenile,
intermediate, novice, junior and senior.
Dance:
Dance
emphasizes the techniques of edgework and slow and is the discipline within
skating that most emphasizes the beauty of the sport, rather than the
athleticism.
