Headquartered in Colorado Springs, Colorado,
the United States Figure Skating Association (USFS) is the national, governing
body for the sport of figure skating in the United States. USFS is a member of
the
International Skating Union (ISU) and the
United States Olympic Committee (USOC).
USFS is one of the strongest and fastest
growing governing bodies within the Olympic movement. Currently, there are more
than 173,000 members of USFS, including more than 1,000 volunteers who serve on
the USFS Executive Committee, Board of Directors and numerous committees.
There are approximately 600 member clubs and 800 USFS Basic Skills Programs in
the United States.
The Basic Skills program was developed by the
USFS and is approved and endorsed by the Professional Skaters Association (PSA),
which is recognized as the authority in coaching education and certification.
The Basic Skills program curriculum consists
of the below
described levels, as well as several class
categories not currently
offered by UASC (although
we are planning for the future! ).
Basic Skills is set up in a comprehensive
lesson and test
structure that is exciting, rewarding, safe,
and fun. Whether it is
a skater’s dream to compete in the Olympics
or just to enjoy
recreational skating, they will benefit from
participating in a
USFS Basic Skills program.
The UASC is a member of the USFSA and a fully sanctioned club.
