Terrie
Curran
Facing her 60th year, Terrie asked herself
what she still wanted to do and the answer was skating. So, five years later
and retired from 38 years of college teaching (32 of those at Providence
College), Terrie has her wish. She got a Ph.D. in Medieval Literature from the
University of Wisconsin in 1973, has been married for 41 years and has 2 large
hairy briard sheepdogs who walk her up and down the roads and paths of South
Woodstock and sniff frantically when she returns from walking dogs at the Lucy
MacKenzie shelter. She can’t believe how lucky she is to be a UASC coach,
combining her favorite new activity with a long standing love of teaching and a
wonderful group of talented coaches and eager students. Now, all she wants is
to land an axel and get the dogs to skate!

Amy
Kamb
In her youth, Amy was a member of the
Hartford Figure Skating Club. She took private lessons and skated at various
rinks throughout Connecticut for over 10 years. For five summers, Amy lived with
her coach during intensive summer sessions. Amy trained in figures, freestyle
and dance, performed in many shows (including the opening and closing ceremonies
of the World Figure Skating Championships in 1981), and competed in a variety of
New England competitions. Now, with a Masters in Elementary Education from
Lesley College and the mother of two children, Amy is excited to have a rink
close to her home in Woodstock.
Jill
Kurash
Jill began skating at age nine in Lancaster,
PA. She skated with the Skating Club of Wilmington during a summer training
program. In 1991, Jill started the Learn to Skate program at Vail Field in
Woodstock and taught for 7 years on that freezing outdoor ice. Jill has been
teaching at the Woodstock Elementary School for 13 years. She lives in Royalton
with her husband and her two young children. She joined UASC two year’s ago and
we are excited to have her on our coaching team again this year.
Anita
Rogerson
Anita’s skating career
began at the Skating Club of Boston, where she trained with Willie Frick. A
dance major at Bennington College, Anita earned her Masters in Education from
Lesley College and for many years taught dance at an independent secondary
school and in public schools in Massachusetts. When Anita and her husband moved
to Vermont, she again turned to figure skating and coached for 8 years with the
Skating Club at Dartmouth. Anita is excited to be part of the UASC coaching
staff. She has 4 grown children and 7 grandchildren.
