All programs must be fully paid up prior to getting on the ice unless arrangement have been made with the club.

Makeup classes and refunds:

If skaters miss a class, they can make up the lesson on another day within the session or by special arrangement with the Skating Director.  If you any reason a skater discontinues skating during a session, pro-rated refunds are available.

snacks:

Tip: How often should I sharpen my skates?

It depends how often and hard you skate.  You are often the best judge, try and remember that feel of a freshly sharpened skate and when that feeling goes then it is time to be sharpened.  The rule of thumb is every 20 hours or at least every 2 months.  Make sure you take it to someone who knows how to sharpen figure skating blades and always remember to wear your hard guards whenever you are off the ice!

Union Arena operates a concession with snack foods and hot and cold drinks.  All proceeds from these items goes to Union Arena not UASC.  The snack bar is not always open during UASC lesson times, but there are drink machines available.

rink monitor:

There is a rink monitor during each skating lesson who provides aide to any skater in need ( allowing coaches to continue teaching), give out the Freestyle coupons during practice ice times and may operate the portable sound system for skaters practicing competition routines.  Rink monitors sit in the skater box and watch on-ice activities.  It is essential to have someone in the box to handle the inevitable needs of both skaters and coaches.  This is a volunteer position and we encourage each parent or guardian to watch individual skaters and the magic of the entire program.

rink rules:

The Union Arena Skating Club is subject to the policies of the

Union Arena Community Center.  Those policies may be found in the

Policy, Employee and Operations Handbook in the Union Arena

Manager’s Office.  To review this handbook, please contact the

Union Arena Manager’s Office directly.

All skaters must sign a liability waiver which states that the

participant (or parent/guardian) knowingly and freely assume

all risks associated with skating.
